The latest chapter in the career of Norfolk television presenter Jake Humphrey is set to begin tomorrow.
The former BBC Sport presenter will return to our screens with new channel BT Sport, which launches tomorrow ahead of him leading the channel's coverage of 38 exclusive live Premier League football matches from Saturday, August 17.
BT Sport will feature 18 'first pick' Premier League matches as well as up to 69 live Aviva Premiership rugby union matches during the course of the 2013/14 season.
Humphrey, a former pupil of Framingham Earl High School in Poringland and sixth-form student at the Hewett School in Norwich, said: 'It's very exciting. I'm hosting the launch programme from 6pm onThursday, which will basically be a 'welcome to our house'.
'It will be an introduction to our studio and our experts like (former footballers) Michael Owen, Owen Hargreaves and Steve McManaman and to all our different programmes.
'We'll have Moto GP bikes, various sporting trophies, Matt Dawson and Lawrence Dallaglio to present our rugby coverage and then from 7.45 we've got live football from the Audi Cup, which could involve Bayern Munich against Manchester City.'
At the age of just 34 Humphrey has already achieved a lot and moves to BT after four years presenting the BBC's Formula One coverage all over the globe, including Australia, China and Canada.
However his wife, Harriet, gave birth to their first child in March of this year, Florence, and Humphrey feels he is the right man to spearhead BT's challenge to the Premier League dominance of Sky Sports.
'When I got the BBC job in F1 I was taking over from Steve Ryder, who was in his 50s and I was 28, so I was young but I was already established from presenting the Euros, the Olympic Games and BBC Sports Personality of the Year,' Humphrey continued.
'So I think of it with the old football adage of 'if you're good enough, you're old enough' and you just have to back your ability.
'I relish that some people might think I'm a bit young to be on the TV but if I was playing football or was an F1 driver, I'd be past my prime. So I don't think I'm too young and I try not to think about it.'
