It has been an exhilarating week of football for Norwich City fans, with two matches at Carrow Road and 13 goals between them.

The slip-up against Bristol City, which brought an end to our year long unbeaten run at home, has already faded from memory.

The Canaries have bounced back from the three-game losing streak, whilst the playing squad was decimated by injuries and the absence of Kenny McLean in the heart of the team, to prove that the winless run was a temporary setback.

A well-earned point at the Hawthorns was followed by two entertaining and convincing wins in front of the NR1 faithful.

Plymouth did their best to compete, and when they got a goal back towards the end of the first half there was some nervousness in the stands. It wouldn’t be the first time we had dominated a match early on, only to throw away the advantage and the points.

However, the Norwich attack steamrollered the Plymouth defence in the second half, with Borja Sainz completing his hat-trick in style - and no doubt garnering further attention from outside Norfolk.

As fans we are both proud to have such a talented player in our squad, and worried about what the January transfer circus will bring to our door.

Luton provided a tougher opposition on Saturday, and it wasn’t until later in the game that we took control and clinched the win. The Hatters were more combative, with a front two that seemed to tower over even the likes of Angus Gunn and Shane Duffy, and our star number seven had much less impact - though he still managed to get his name on the scoresheet.

This time his team-mates stepped up to the task, with young Ante Crnac getting a brace before selflessly setting up Emi Marcondes when he had a chance of completing a hat-trick.

Another star performer in the resurgent Canaries is Jack Stacey, who is notching up the assists from his position as an attacking full back. The best being the never-say-die chasing of the ball in the 33rd minute, managing to get his foot in front of the opposition defender and steal a cross into the box, just millimetres before it went out of play.

This energetic determination seems to be as much part of Hoffball as the quick one touch passing that pings the ball around the park.

Confidence is always a factor in football, even more so when the squad contains so many young and inexperienced players. Johannes Hoff Thorup has assembled a talented group, who are hungry to prove themselves in the Championship.

As they get more games under their belt, the self-belief will grow, and as Crnac has shown in the last week, once they do they can flourish. Some had been questioning his place in the team, and if we needed to invest in an additional striker when the transfer window opens next month.

But his hard work has now paid off, with three goals in two games, rewarding the faith shown in him.

A few supporters are still unhappy at the occasional defensive errors that have led to opposition goals, but this may also be due to inexperience along with the constant changes in the back line.

Yet, however satisfying a clean sheet is, a 1-0 win is rarely as enjoyable as a comeback victory or a goal bonanza. The breathless pace of end-to-end football makes the 90 minutes fly by, and a late flurry of goals leaves the ground bouncing at the final whistle.

Some of the most enjoyable football I’ve witnessed as a Norwich supporter, is when the manager - Walker, Lambert, Farke - wasn’t too concerned about conceding, as they were always confident that we would score more goals than the opposition.

As we left the stands on Saturday evening, there was no talk of tightening up the defence, just gleeful exclamations of another superb result. Norwich City are back on form, and it’s a joy to watch.
