Norwich City life presidents Delia Smith and Michael Wynn Jones have received an outpouring of appreciation after stepping down from the club’s board.
The iconic duo have taken a back seat ahead of the official share handover that will make Mark Attanasio’s Norfolk Holdings group majority shareholders in March.
That means they’re absent from the board for the first time since 1995, when they stepped in at a time of serious financial difficulty at Carrow Road.
Their commitment and achievements have been recognised across football since yesterday’s EGM confirmed the changes, with a number of notable figures sharing their best memories and thanks.
See the best of that reaction below.
Delia Smith and Michael Wynn Jones never had great financial resources but they've always had limitless love and care for their club. They were always custodians of the club as much as owners. #OTBC https://t.co/fFPHMHn1zH

We might not even have a club without them, they saved Norwich. Incredible what they have both achieved here. Forever grateful, but time to move on.

🙏From when I joined in 1998, for 10yrs their support to me, & us as a family, was so good!
🧪They embraced sports science in football before anyone

Very, very few clubs have had a more eventful 28 years. Every time we think we hit rock bottom we have pulled ourselves up, and Delia & MWJ have always faced it every step of the way. In a world of faceless owners, they were the face of #ncfc and should be remembered as such https://t.co/qAwWU7oNlL

Nobody, No player , No Manager or fan has done more for Norwich City than Delia and Michael have over the last 30 years, we all owe them, now it's time to move on and keep building ! 💪🏼 #Ncfc https://t.co/werj4O8Ghy

Is it just me? I have tear in my eye reading this. I know everybody has to step back at some point. Delia and Michael have only ever had this club in their hearts. I wish them all the best, and being life presidents is a great honour for two lovely people. #ncfc #ctid #otbc https://t.co/etNH7F4TN8

Delia was an icon for me growing up. A passionate, loyal and powerful woman in football, who dedicated so much to the club I love. Thank you Delia. @NorwichCityFC #ncfc

I’d always choose Delia Smith. #NCFC 💛💚 https://t.co/vJJ0bxhCGy
We welcome this exciting new era at #NCFC and look forward to working with Mark Attanasio and the revised board, but none of this would have been possible without the huge contribution made to the Club over an incredible 27 years by Delia and Michael.https://t.co/OkBPAfmvca

True custodians, who saved our club and never, ever gambled away our future.
Countless unpublicised gestures for supporters across the 🌍 and unlike other owners, you genuinely care.
Delia, MWJ, I’m forever grateful. 💛
Let’s be havin’ you🍷 pic.twitter.com/2PJOA3nTdz
Fair play Delia and Michael, they did so much that was good for the club and that will never be forgotten. Football, unfortunately, left them and their vision of how to run a club behind in the end. On to the next chapter. OTBC #ncfc

Whatever you think about how the club has transitioned over the last few years, Delia and Michael are forever part of our brand. Let's hope the next chapter is as exciting as the best times under their watch. #NCFC

It’s the right time, but it still feels really sad.

Some mediocrity, some massive lows, but on the whole a wonderful rollercoaster with some of my best memories of almost 50 yrs of supporting #NCFC.
Thanks Delia & Michael https://t.co/0TbEbsl5SF
All the love in the world for Delia and Michael. There have been mistakes, sure, but there have also been memories we’ve arguably had no right to make. I don’t think there is (or ever will be) another owner in football with the heart they’ve brought to things. #ncfc https://t.co/4e01KRL7pJ

Huge news and the end of an era. I've only ever known the club with Delia and Michael at the helm and that ends tonight. They've given us great times and also made some mistakes, but they deserve great respect and appreciation. #NCFC https://t.co/qZdOWIsuo1
