Wroxham have appointed former Norwich City defender Matt Halliday as their new manager.

Halliday fills the void left by the departure of Jordan Southgate, who left Trafford Park to join Lowestoft Town as Jamie Godbold’s assistant.

Club chairman, James Blower, said: “Having conducted the recruitment process, following Jordan’s departure, I felt Matt was rather best choice to take the club to the next stage. He will build on the foundations we have built over the past few years but bring his own ideas and style to the team.

“I’m pleased that his management team will include Craig Parker, who has a wealth of experience and has been a very positive influence since he arrived over the summer.”

Halliday added: “I’m delighted to have accepted the position as manager of Wroxham. The club have been a big part of my football life and to be given the chance to build on the brilliant work of Jordan and James was too good an opportunity to pass up. I will of course put some of my stamp on the team but I have a great foundation with the players and management that are already here.

“Goalkeeping coach, Daz Plowman-Read and sports therapist , Becky Edge have agreed to stay and Craig Parker has agreed to become player/assistant manager. Parks’ knowledge of the game and leadership qualities both on and off the pitch will be invaluable.”

Blower has called on the club to get behind the new management team after a difficult start to the campaign.

He said: “It is important that we get behind Matt, Craig, Daz and Becky with a big FA Trophy game this weekend. We have some crucial league fixtures over the next few weeks as we seek to move up the table.”
