Norwich City have completed a deadline night loan move for Liverpool's highly-rated winger Kaide Gordon.

The 19-year-old travelled to Norfolk on Friday evening to undergo a medical and complete the formalities on a season-long loan.

City moved for the Reds' prospect once they had sanctioned Abu Kamara's permanent exit to Championship rivals Hull City.

New Liverpool chief, Arne Slot, is believed to have favoured a loan move for Gordon to continue his development.

The youngster, who joined Liverpool from Derby County for a fee potentially rising to £3.4million in February 2021, made an impressive breakthrough at Anfield under Jurgen Klopp in 2021/22.

Injury halted his progress last season, but the youngster will target regular minutes at Carrow Road as he links up with Johannes Hoff Thorup's squad in the Championship.

The right winger has so far made seven senior appearances for the Reds and represented England at various age group levels up to England Under-20s.

Gordon will wear the number 21 shirt for the Canaries.

"I'm really excited to be here, it was a quick turnaround but as soon as I heard Norwich were interested in me I definitely wanted to come here, so I'm really excited to get going," he told the club's official site.

"This is a great club, my first Liverpool game was at Carrow Road and the fans and atmosphere were great, which was a good experience for me. I definitely see one of the aims as helping this club push back up into the Premier League.

"I've had a couple of injuries which set me back, but I really feel now I need to be playing men's football.

"I just try and think positively on the pitch. I am trying to create and score goals for the team. I see myself as a team player. To be around the Liverpool environment has helped keep me grounded."

"Kaide is an exciting young player who we're looking forward to working with this season," added sporting director Ben Knapper.

"We're thankful to everyone at Liverpool for trusting us with this next stage in his development, in what will be his first senior loan experience. He will add competition in wide areas, and we are hopeful this will be a mutually beneficial step for all parties."

City were rebuffed in their attempts to bring in Rangers winger Rabbi Matondo, while Bournemouth's Jaiden Anthony and Crystal Palace's Jes Rak-Sakyi were also believed to be on the Canaries' list of potential targets.

Kamara's deadline day exit came after the recent departure of another academy-produced wide player in Jon Rowe, who sealed a loan move with a buy obligation to Marseille.
