Norwich City winger Jonathan Rowe has completed his long-awaited move to Ligue 1 side Marseille.
The 21-year-old moves to southern France on an initial season-long loan deal, one that will become permanent next summer for an initial fee of £14million.
City sporting director Ben Knapper has also negotiated a series of performance-related add-ons that could take that number to around £17million, as well as a sell-on fee that means the Canaries will be entitled to 25pc of any profit Les Olympiques make on Rowe.
The English youth international leaves Carrow Road amid a summer of controversy, having told head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup he wasn't 'motivated' to feature in an opening day meeting with Oxford United.
He was exiled from the first-team group as a result, training with the under-21s while negotiations continued with Marseille. He remained there until Roberto De Zerbi's side met Norwich's asking price, before flying across the English channel for a medical and to finalise personal terms.
The Canaries will look to replace Rowe with another winger as quickly as possible, and has already started work on a number of potential targets. Highly-rated new signing Ante Crnac will also provide cover out wide having played there for former club Raków Częstochowa.
Speaking in a statement on the club's website, Knapper said: "Jonny was a player we were keen to have as an asset in our squad for the season and years ahead.
"Whilst we were disappointed in the way in which certain things have played out in recent weeks, I’m pleased that we’ve been able to act quickly and efficiently to ensure that the club has received the best possible deal, and we can move on in a positive direction.
"Jonny has been with the club for some time and I know how thankful he is to all of our staff that have helped develop and support him throughout his journey. He is a good person and a fantastic player, and we will all continue to follow his progress with great interest.
"We wish him well in this next, exciting step of his career."
