Gabriel Forsyth has become the second Norwich City youngster of the day to commit his long-term future to the club.
The Scottish midfielder has penned a new contract at Carrow Road until 2027 and follows defender Brad Hills in signing fresh terms at the club.
Forsyth has impressed new Norwich boss Johannes Hoff Thorup and his coaching team with impressive performances in pre-season. Those have been rewarded with a fresh contract that reflect the club’s belief in his potential.
Norwich have moved quickly to agree a new contract with the 18-year-old, who made his debut for the club on Saturday, becoming the 20th youngest player to feature in yellow and green since 1935.
Forsyth’s debut against Oxford United also saw him become the fifth youngster City player to debut in the Championship since its rebrand in the 2004/05 campaign.
City signed the Glasgow born youngster from Hamilton Academical last summer, where he also played senior football in the Scottish Championship before moving down south.
"It's amazing, after such an enjoyable first season at the club. All the coaches made me feel welcome, so a big thank you to them," Forsyth told club channels.
"That made it so much easier to play my football and I'm glad to sign another deal at the club.
"[Positive pre-season] was all down to the coaches and the players. They helped me play my best football. I can't thank them enough for helping me.
"I loved it. Johannes and Glen have given me the platform to play so I can't thank them enough. It was just five or ten minutes to impress them, and thankfully I did. Hopefully I can continue in the squad.
"I found it quite clear when I went up to the first team with the likes of Kenny [McLean] and Grant [Hanley] getting onto me. Having players like that to feed off with help me a lot."
