A furore around Jon Rowe's absence and Norwich City well beaten by newly promoted Oxford was not the dream start Johannes Hoff Thorup would have wanted to Championship life.

The Dane has had to juggle transforming the playing style from his precedessor during a pre-season when he has also had to bat away relentless transfer-related questions on Gaby Sara, Adam Idah and now Rowe, who will train with the Under21s until further notice after talks on Sunday with City's top brass.

Where do you start with the Rowe situation? Deal in the facts and the England Under-21 international indicated to Thorup on Saturday morning he was not in the right of frame for selection after a bid from Marseille.

But as of kick-off the French club's opening gambit was well below City's valuation for an academy produced talent who earned rave reviews, when he was clear of injury last season.

The earlier Leeds link did not translate into an offer from the Whites. Thorup indicated after Saturday's game he planned clear-the-air talks behind-closed-doors with all the key actors.

Where does this play out from here? Is there any way back for Rowe in a Norwich shirt, and what does the remaining weeks of the transfer window this month hold for both parties?

Idah is edging towards a Celtic reunion after the clubs embarked on a fresh wave of dialogue in the past week. With Josh Sargent also believed to have attracted transfer interest this summer, where does that leave City's striking stocks?

On the plus side, Amankwah Forson showed in a second half cameo on his debut at the Kassam he looks a real positive addition to a midfield that failed to function at Oxford.

On the pitch, City host Stevenage in League Cup action on Tuesday at Carrow Road. How bold would you go in terms of selection, or does Thorup need a result, and a performance, after last weekend to bounce into Blackburn's Championship visit this Saturday?
