Gabriel Sara has credited Norwich City with changing his life and career in a heartfelt goodbye message posted after his big-money move to Galatasaray.

The Brazilian's move to Turkey was confirmed over the weekend, with City set to bag a guaranteed £20m plus add-ons for the 25-year-old, who had also attracted interest from the Premier League and Serie A this summer.

Sara's rise at Carrow Road saw him transformed from their first-ever recruit straight from South America into a Champions League footballer.

He was a popular player during his two seasons in Norfolk, a player of the season winner, and a scorer of many memorable goals. Sara and his family were happy in Norfolk, and those warm feelings were mutual.

As he takes the next step in his career, Sara has written a heartfelt farewell to supporters via his social media platform.

Dear Norwich family,

It’s hard to put my feelings into words right now, but I promise I will try my best.

I’d like to thank each and every one of you for the amazing support you gave me during my two years as a Canary player.

The way my teammates, the staff, the board and especially the fans have welcomed and treated me and my family is something I will never have enough words to thank, so it’s really hard to say goodbye to a place that has changed my career and my life so much.

Since day one, the least I could do was give my best to always represent you properly on the pitch, but honestly, the bond we have developed went far beyond the mere professional obligations a player has. I’ve always felt a true connection with everyone at the club and it’s an unbelievable honour to be a part of the Canary family.

During these two seasons, as we were chasing after our dreams and common goals, I feel I’ve learned and grown fantastically both as a player and as a person. Unfortunately we have not reached our main goal, but that does not make this journey any less beautiful and unforgettable to me.

From now on, Norwich has gained another lifetime fan. Wherever I am, I’ll always be cheering for you, Canaries. Thank you for giving me some of the best days of my life! 🔰

Yours,
Gabby
