Norwich City midfielder Gabriel Sara has arrived in Istanbul to finalise his big-money move to Galatasaray.

The Brazilian flew to Turkey from Norwich Airport on Saturday evening and was pictured in a Galatasaray shirt following his arrival at the Istanbul Ataturk Airport.

Sara is set to complete a move worth up to £24m for the Canaries after terms between the clubs were agreed. There was Premier League and Serie A interest in the 25-year-old, who is set to quadruple his salary in Turkey.

Gala are believed to have shelled out a club-record fee to bring the City midfielder to the Ali Sami Yen Spor Kompleksi. Official confirmation of the move could arrive as early as Sunday from both clubs.

Sara was absent as Norwich were beaten 3-1 by Bundesliga side St Pauli in their final pre-season friendly on Saturday afternoon at Carrow Road, with Johannes Hoff Thorup confirming a move was close.

“I think it's obvious for everyone, of course, when we leave a player with his abilities out of the squad for a game like today because it's getting close,” said Thorup. “It will not be ideal for us to play him with his head maybe being not somewhere else, but with a difficult decision to take.

"So it was an easy decision for us to take to leave him out. That's a part of the game and if it will be a transfer for him, then it's more than well deserved.

”First of all we should be proud that we have developed a player here to this level in his career. Also when we create these type of stories it helps to create the next ones that we can hopefully bring to this club to show them if you can perform in a good league at a good club then you are ready to take the next step.”

Sao Paulo are also set for a windfall as part of the agreement that saw Sara join Norwich in 2022, reportedly worth £2m.
