Norwich City conclude their pre-season preparations with a Carrow Road clash against Bundesliga side St Pauli this afternoon.

The Canaries returned from Austria on Friday afternoon and will undergo their final test before next week's Championship opener away at Oxford United in NR1. It will be the last chance for Johannes Hoff Thorup to assess his options prior to that clash.

Final pre-season matches are routinely used as a dress rehearsal ahead of the league opener, and it's likely Thorup will select a similar starting XI to the one he will deploy next weekend.

It remains to be seen whether that will include Gabriel Sara, who is the subject of a major bid from Turkish champions Galatasaray, with increasing reports that a move to take the Brazilian midfielder to Istanbul is edging closer.

Thorup also faces a decision over whether to include striker Adam Idah in the side after he was internally disciplined for failing to report for last Sunday's flight with his team mates. The City boss was critical of the Irishman, but pledged to reintegrate him into the squad.

Ashley Barnes remains injured, but otherwise City should have a fully fit squad available. New signing Ben Chrisene could make his Carrow Road debut after joining on a permanent deal from Premier League side Aston Villa last week.

City drew 2-2 with Hoffenheim in St Johann, Austria, on Tuesday. Goals from Jon Rowe and Brad Hills helped them overturn a 2-0 deficit after a testing first half.

St Pauli will represent another stern test as they continue their own preparation for the upcoming Bundesliga campaign.

The Hamburg-based side won promotion to the top flight last season as champions of the Bundesliga Two under Fabian Hurzeler, who subsequently replaced Roberto di Zerbi as head coach of Premier League side Brighton.

Alexander Blessin has succeeded Hurzeler, with ex-City boss David Wagner also believed to have been in contention for the role. St Pauli have former Canaries attacker Danel Sinani on their books, as well as ex-Hull midfielder Jackson Irvine.

This will be their penultimate test in pre-season, having beat French side Lyon 1-0 in Austria on Wednesday. They begin their Bundesliga campaign against FC Heidenheim later this month.
