Southampton are reportedly eyeing a move for Norwich City’s Abu Kamara in their pursuit of a winger this summer.
That’s according to Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke, who is claiming Southampton are interested in the 20-year-old and are preparing to formalise their interest.
Both Saints boss Russell Martin and assistant Matt Gill will be aware of Kamara having worked with him during their respective stints at Carrow Road previously.
Norwich are reluctant to lose Kamara and plan to utilise him in Johannes Hoff Thorup’s first-team squad in the Championship this season, despite speculation continue to bubble throughout the summer.
That has come after an impressive campaign for Kamara at Southampton’s rivals Portsmouth, where he was ever present in their run to the League One title last season.

Portsmouth have remained interested in Kamara, and themselves were linked with a permanent swoop for the attacker last month. That was knocked down by boss John Mousinho.
"In terms of bids being prepared, I did see the story; I think what we have to do is write down a figure on a piece of paper and send it. There's none of that," Mousinho told BBC Radio Solent.
"I know it's something that the fans are really excited about, but at the moment, there is no movement there.
"Abu is having a good pre-season so far with Norwich; he played the other day when they played Northampton on Saturday, so nothing in that at the moment."
Kamara, an England U20 international, has been ever present in City’s pre-season campaign and is rated highly by Thorup, who is keen to embed more young talent in his squad.
He is contracted to the Canaries until 2025, although there is an option to extend that by a further year. Belgian side Anderlecht have also been credited with an interest.
Kamara is the latest City player linked with a move away this summer, with Adam Idah continuing to be pursued by Celtic after his successful loan spell last season.
Latest reports in Scotland suggesting a move is imminent are thought to be premature. City are yet to receive their valuation of the striker.
Gabriel Sara is also attracting interest from Galatasaray as well as Premier League clubs. Norwich do need to make a major sale this summer.
