Norwich City target Callum Doyle has been included in Manchester City's travelling squad for their pre-season tour of the USA next week.

The Citizens have already flown out ahead of a four-game schedule, with a mixture of experience and young players as several of their main stars recover from major tournaments.

That means an opportunity for Doyle, who could feature in the games against Celtic, AC Milan, Barcelona and Chelsea. The final game of the camp, against the Blues, takes place on Saturday, August 3, a week before the Canaries kick off their Championship campaign against Oxford United.

A season-long loan deal has been agreed between the clubs, with the 20-year-old set to move to Carrow Road for the 2024-25 campaign. The switch is still awaiting a final seal of approval from Pep Guardiola's side, however, and any permanent offers for Doyle could mean a stumbling block.

But Norwich remain confident of completing the defender's signing as they push to add a first-team left-back. Under-21 prospect Guilherme Montoia has started both of their pre-season friendlies thus far, but sporting director Ben Knapper has been open about his activity looking at the position.

Knapper is still looking at other targets and could sign more than one left-back this summer, after both Sam McCallum and Dimitris Giannoulis left the club at the end of their contracts.

Familicao's Francisco Moura has been linked with a move to Norfolk in the Portuguese press, while Casa Pia's Leonardo Lelo is a player Norwich like but are not currently pursuing. Former Nordsjaelland left-back Martin Frese was also a target before he signed for Hellas Verona.

Doyle has spent time on loan at Sunderland, Coventry and Leicester, winning the Championship with the Foxes in an injury-hit spell last season. He's also turned out for the England under-21s, claiming three caps, and can play at centre-back as well as on the flank.
