Young Norwich City goalkeeper Vicente Reyes has completed a season-long loan switch to League One side Cambridge United.
The highly-rated Chilean youth international will link up with Garry Monk's side next term after impressing during a short stint with relegated League Two side Forest Green Rovers last season.
Norwich were keen to push his development further by testing him at a higher level, and Reyes will compete with Jack Stevens and Louis Chadwick for the starting shirt at the Abbey Stadium.
There was believed to have been plenty of interest in the 20-year-old after his performances last season, but Cambridge have won the race for his temporary signature.
“I am really excited to join the Club”, Reyes said. “It’s another big step forward in my development as a player and I hope to help the team in anyway that I can.
“The vision of the Manager and the Club is really impressive and I can’t wait to be a part of it this upcoming season.
"It was a quick process. Paul Clements (City's head of goalkeeping) let me know around mid-June. I knew a loan was very possible for me this season. I heard the possibility of [joining] Cambridge and I was very excited.
"It's very close to Norwich and so it's not a big transition. It's the perfect spot for me. I've really enjoyed my time in England so far. It's taken a bit of time to adapt but what excites me the most is playing in front of bigger crowds.
"I think I'm ready for this next step and I'm really looking forward to it."
Reyes joined City last summer from MLS side Atlanta United and was also loaned to non-league side Braintree in his first year in England.
With City set to head into the new campaign with Angus Gunn, George Long and Dan Barden as their first-choice keepers, it allows Reyes to depart Carrow Road in pursuit of game time.
Monk has expressed his delight at winning the race to sign the Norwich shot-stopper.
“Vicente is an extremely talented goalkeeper and I am delighted that he has joined us for the upcoming season," the U's boss said.
“He arrives with great ambition and will make the squad as competitive as possible.”
