Norwich City midfielder Marcelino Nunez is the subject of a €3.5million bid from Trabzonspor, according to reports in Turkey.

Multiple outlets  have stated that there is interest in Nunez from the Super Lig club, but that the Canaries are holding out for a significant fee for their number 26.

The Turkish transfer window officially opens on June 24, with English clubs allowed to sign players from tomorrow.

Nunez became a key player for Norwich in the second half of last season, forging a regular starting role in their remarkable push for Championship play-off qualification.

He had struggled for game time at the start of the campaign, but was described as one of the first names on the teamsheet by former head coach David Wagner after a sublime free-kick against Blackburn in February.

The 24-year-old is currently on international duty with Chile, who kick off their Copa America campaign in just over a week when they face Peru at the AT&T Stadium. He played all 90 minutes of their warm-up meeting with Paraguay, starting in a deep midfield position as La Roja ran out 3-0 winners.

City are likely to need to generate funds through sales this summer, but the main focus of speculation has surrounded Gabriel Sara, Josh Sargent and Jonathan Rowe.

The potential sale of 23-year-old striker Adam Idah could also raise funds, with loan club Celtic keen to sign him permanently, while Christos Tzolis already departed Carrow Road in a £3million move to Fortuna Dusseldorf.

Reports last summer linked Nunez with a €20million move to Brighton, less than a year after he first moved to Norwich from Chilean side Universidad Catolica for around £3.3million.

To date Nunez has played 81 games in England, scoring five goals and claiming five assists. His current contract runs until 2026.

He's expected to return for pre-season training after an extended break to allow for participation in the Copa, with some of City's first team returning to Colney for testing later this month.
