Norwich City are interested in signing Nordsjaelland left-back Martin Frese, according to reports from Denmark.
Frese worked under Johannes Hoff Thorup since 2015, when the prospective next Canaries head coach was working in the academy at Nordsjaelland.
The 26-year-old became a regular after Thorup was appointed as assistant manager and continued to be one when he got the top job, playing 29 league games last season.
He's available on a free transfer this summer after allowing his contract with the Superliga club to run down, with City looking for a left-back after announcing the departures of Sam McCallum and Dimitris Giannoulis.
Bold have reported that they sent a scout to Scandinavia earlier in the spring, introducing Frese to the club as they aimed for Premier League promotion. They claim that talks went quiet after Norwich failed to do so, but that Frese is keen to move abroad.
He's spent the entirety of his senior career with the Tigers, progressing through their academy before making his debut in May 2017 and going on to play 131 times.
Speaking before his final home game for the club, Nordsjaelland director of football Jan Laursen said of the full-back: "Frese has a long history here at the club, and you can't give him enough credit for being the team player and club man he is and always has been.
"He always gives 100pc and has shown enormous mental strength, not least when he has had to fight back from serious injuries. He has grown big and strong - and has developed into an absolute key player.
"At the same time, Frese has been through pretty much the entire academy and taken the steps we would very much like to see - both in terms of playing and as a person - and therefore we clearly hope that it will be a 'see you' instead of a goodbye.
"It will be exciting to follow him and hopefully see him back in FCN at some point. He's a great player and a great person, and he deserves every bit of luck for the next chapter."
