David Wagner and Daniel Farke have pulled the shutters down ahead of tonight’s Championship play-off semi-final clash.
The City boss and his Leeds counterpart have scrapped the usual pre-match media commitments to ensure all trade secrets remain in house.
Wagner perhaps has the most to lose by giving out information on the fitness of three of his key players ahead of the trip to Elland Road.
Striker and leading scorer Josh Sargent has been ‘wrapped in cotton wool’ since he returned to action at the turn of the year after four months out with an ankle injury. The American has since scored 13 goals – but had to be replaced six minutes before the end of Sunday’s first leg stalemate at Carrow Road.
Wagner confirmed after the game that Sargent had suffered some pain from the same ankle, but there has been no word since from inside Colney as to the striker’s fitness.
The City boss had been hopeful the experienced Ashley Barnes would be fit for tonight after a calf problem but, again, that information has been kept under wraps.
The third player with a question mark over him is young winger Jonathan Rowe, who started his first game since January against Leeds on Sunday. He was replaced after an hour, with his ability to last a full match under scrutiny.
It all adds to the tension of a game which, for the victors, means a place at Wembley against Southampton or West Brom on May 26 when the prize is a place in the Premier League.
