Jon Rowe's sparkling first full senior season at Norwich City has been recognised with a nomination for the EFL Young Player of the Season.

The winger, who is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury, has been nominated alongside Leeds United's Archie Gray and Jordan James at Birmingham City.

Rowe has scored 12 goals and recorded two assists in 28 Championship matches this term and is due to return to action for their run-in in the coming weeks.

He hadn't started a senior game for City prior to the opening day of the season against Hull, scoring in each of his first four league matches as well as striking in the League Cup against QPR.

Throughout the campaign he has established himself as intrinsic to the Canaries cause, with his attacking threat and eye for a goal helping Norwich pick up points as the season has progressed.

Rowe's most high-profile moment of the campaign arrived at Portman Road in December, scoring a brace in the East Anglian derby to help preserve their 14-year unbeaten run against neighbours Ipswich Town.

David Wagner has shown trust in starting Rowe and faith by supporting him through peaks and the rare troughs of the campaign - with both parties eager for the 20-year-old to return from the sidelines.

Rowe has missed City's last nine matches with a hamstring injury sustained at QPR, but is making progress in his recovery. Wagner confirmed after Monday's defeat at Leicester that he would not make Saturday's game against Ipswich.

The winger has now made 50 senior appearances for Norwich since making his senior debut against Crystal Palace in the Premier League back in December 2021.

The Canaries have also been nominated for the EFL Innovation Award, alongside League Two side Forest Green Rovers and Championship rivals Swansea City.

Former City boss Daniel Farke has been nominated for Championship Manager of the Season alongside Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna and Hull's Liam Rosenior, whilst Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall of Leicester is joined by Leeds United's Crysencio Summerville and the league's top scorer Sammie Szmodics for Player of the Season.

Winners will be announced at the League’s annual ceremony in London on Sunday, April 14.
