Gabriel Sara's Anfield meeting with Liverpool has given him a taste of the Premier League he's desperate to replicate at Norwich City.

The Canaries midfielder started for David Wagner's side when they were beaten 5-2 by the Reds in the fourth round of the FA Cup, playing the full 90 minutes in the first game since Jurgen Klopp announced his impending departure from the Merseyside club.

Sara played in front of stadiums of 60,000 at previous club Sao Paulo, but still felt that playing at Anfield was a dream come true. He was keen to make sure he didn't miss the game, despite knowing Wagner could be tempted to rest him.

"I was so excited," he said. "The manager said that we were going to Anfield, and I had to be there. If I started getting sick I'm not sick, things like this.

"The tackles in training were really careful, because I had to be there for this game."

"It was amazing, it was unbelievable (at Anfield). I remember I saw a movie in my head. I'd been working a lot to be in that moment. As a kid you're playing, watching them play on TV, and then you go there."

The feeling of playing at one of English football's most heralded stadium gave Sara the motivation to turn a one-off into a weekly event via promotion with City.

"That day I thought, 'we have go to up, we have to get to the Premier League'," he continued, speaking on official club channels. "If you look at our games, I think after that game the feeling was different.

"Since that game we've been unbeaten at Carrow Road and everything. After that game everyone felt that it was amazing to be there.

"Why should we have to stay in the Championship if we can be in the Premier League playing against this kind of team every week.

"We can face Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester. We want to be there all the time."
