Adam Idah is ‘loving life’ at Celtic and believes he is already a better player than when he left Norwich City last month.
The Republic of Ireland international made a dramatic intervention from the substitutes’ bench on Sunday with a brace in the Bhoys’ 3-1 comeback Scottish Premiership win at Motherwell.
The 23-year-old has four goals and an assist in his first four league appearances since completing a loan move to Celtic Park.
Idah was frustrated at the lack of regular game time under David Wagner at Carrow Road, but is thriving for the Hoops, who are now two points behind their arch rivals Rangers.
“It’s unbelievable for me on a personal level. I am just loving life in Glasgow. Being at this club, training every day, playing the games is fantastic,” he said. “My family and friends are buzzing as well. Of course they are coming to nearly every game.
“I think I have picked up my game a lot, especially in terms of linking up the play, it feels like nearly for the first time I am the centre point of the team. Nearly every play has to come through me. That is such a big difference. It is great, huge for my development.
“It is so professional up here. The mentality. When I first came here for training there was no one about, they were all in the gym working hard. That is the big thing I have noticed. That never-give-up attitude is what we showed in this game to come out with a big three points.”
Idah swapped places with Sydney van Hooijdonk at Norwich, and the Dutchman - who was an unused substitute in the 1-1 Championship draw at Blackburn – is yet to start a game for the Canaries.
Idah scored a number of crucial goals for his parent club from the bench earlier this season, and that trend continued at Fir Park with a towering header and near post finish.
“I said it on the bench I had a feeling that I was going to score,” he said, speaking to Celtic’s official channels. “It was just immense relief when that second one went in. Especially to do it in front of the fans was unbelievable. That is the second time that has happened this season so long may that continue. It is an amazing feeling with the way the game went.
“To be 1-0 down and it was tough. But we knew we had to stick to the gameplan. But when the second goes it is pure excitement. It was dramatic. We had a tough first half. We spoke at half-time and I think we knew what we needed to do. Fair play to everyone we came away with the three points.”
