Ex-Norwich City loanee Hwang Ui-Jo has completed a loan move to Turkey before their transfer deadline closes later this week.

The South Korean striker has joined Alanyaspor on loan from his parent club, Nottingham Forest, until the end of the season with no option to buy.

Hwang was unveiled as a new signing for the Turkish Super Lig side on Tuesday lunchtime and expressed his delight at making the move.

"I would like to thank everyone, starting from our president, for their interest in me. When I came here first, I felt very welcomed," Hwang said at his unveiling press conference.

"I will do my best every single day both in training and the matches. It's a little bit late to join the team, but I try to help my teammates, coaches and fans. I will try to win every single game.

"This is a good league with high-quality players so I'm looking forward to playing in it."

Alanyaspor president Hasan Cavusoglu said: "He is also one of the team captains of the South Korean National Team. We believe that it will be beneficial to our club.

"Our scouting team was following him. About two years ago, his transfer was not possible because the costs were too high for our club. I had the chance to transfer him on loan for the second half of the league this season." Cavusoglu said.

Hwang's loan at Carrow Road was cut short owing to a hamstring injury that head coach David Wagner said would rule him out of action for six weeks. He subsequently returned to Forest to continue his treatment.

The striker is not deemed part of Nuno Espirito Santos' plans for their push for Premier League survival, and another temporary spell away from the City Ground has been sanctioned.

There was reported interest from French side Montpellier on deadline day, and Hwang was even linked with a return to Carrow Road as part of the move for Adam Idah to leave, but that was rebuffed, and Norwich signed Sydney van Hooijdonk from Bologna.

Hwang has been serving a ten-day travel ban in Seoul since January 18 as police investigations of sexual misconduct against him continue. That was lifted on the 28th of last month. The 31-year-old denies the allegations and has vowed to clear his name.

South Korea suspended him from national team selection back in November whilst the investigation continued, meaning he hasn't formed part of Jurgen Klinsmann's Asian Cup squad.

During his time in Norfolk, Hwang scored three times in 18 appearances. Norwich swooped for him late on deadline day last summer after Josh Sargent picked up an ankle injury that ruled him out for the first half of their Championship campaign.

Alanyaspor sit 14th in the Turkish top flight and will be hoping Hwang can give them the boost they need to survive in the Super Lig this season.

The move, if completed, would see Hwang link up with ex-City midfielder Leroy Fer, who plays for the Turkish side. Their next game is away to Fenerbahce on Sunday.
