Norwich City have completed the loan signing, with a buy option, of Bologna striker Sydney van Hooijdonk.
The Canaries confirmed the deal late on transfer deadline night, after Adam Idah's departure to Celtic was announced.
The 23-year-old Dutchman had interest from a number of Championship clubs, and reportedly clubs in the Bundesliga, but flew into England on Wednesday to begin his medical and complete a Carrow Road switch.
The powerhouse forward will provide competition for Josh Sargent and Ashley Barnes within David Wagner's squad for the league run-in.
Van Hooijdonk will wear the number 14 shirt.
"The last few days have been hectic," he said. "Flying in yesterday (Wednesday) and doing all the medicals. But finally, everything is done. I'm really happy.
"The training ground is amazing, and the facilities are great. I think there's everything to perform and work hard.
"I've met almost all the lads, and they're all really nice. It's been a warm welcome.
"My main quality is scoring goals; in the box I know where the net is and I know how to move, if the ball comes there I know what to do and I think that's what the fans can expect.
"I've been so many times to watch English games and Championship games, so I can't wait to be here and meet everyone and see the warm atmosphere. I'm ready."
"We’re all really excited to welcome Sydney to Norwich City," said sporting director, Ben Knapper, quoted on the club's official site. "He’s a player of real pedigree and potential, having already had some fantastic experiences in his career to date.
“We’re excited to continue that journey with him, and as both a person and player we feel he’s a great fit for our environment and strategy.
“We can’t wait to start working with him.”
Van Hooijdonk scored 19 goals in 39 games on loan at Dutch side Heerenveen last season but has found opportunities limited in Serie A this season.
"My one and a half year loan at Heerenveen was fantastic for me," he said. "I became an Eredivisie player there and I think I played around 50 to 60 games and scored I think 30 goals, which was good for me and now I'm here.
"I'm looking for something a bit longer term, so hopefully this will be my new place and that's the goal for me and also for the club, that's the intention."
Bologna's move for South American forward Santiago Castro earlier this week pushed van Hooijdonk further down the pecking order, after one goal in 16 appearances this season.
