Progress is being made in Norwich City's striker swap - with Adam Idah closing in on a move to Celtic and Sydney van Hooijdonk set to join the Canaries.
Idah's move is progressing as hoped after Celtic leapfrogged ahead of Italian club Hellas Verona to sign the Irish striker, with the Serie A outfit failing to meet Norwich's valuation for a buy option.
Celtic have agreed a straight loan for the 22-year-old until the end of the current campaign - it's understood there is NO option to buy inserted into the agreement.
Reports on Wednesday lunchtime suggested that Idah was set to undergo his medical in London ahead of putting the finishing touches on his temporary move to the Scottish champions.
Norwich are increasingly confident that a deal for Van Hooijdonk will be completed, and a medical for the Dutch striker could take place as early as Wednesday evening.
If completed, it would see the 23-year-old move to Carrow Road on loan for the remainder of the campaign, but it's understood there would be a buy option inserted into that deal. The Bologna striker is keen to join David Wagner's side.
Norwich have agreed to sanction Idah's departure, having now lined up a replacement - all sides are gaining confidence that the deals will completed before Thursday's transfer deadline.
City remains interested in striking a deal for Sporting Gijon midfielder Jonathan Varane ahead of Thursday's deadline, but those talks have been placed on the back burner while they address their striking situation.
Reports in Spain have suggested that the Segunda Division promotion hopefuls have closed the door on a prospective deal at this stage of the window - with City viewing Varane as a player to benefit them in the mid to long term.
Winger Przemyslaw Placheta is free to find himself a new club before Thursday's 11pm deadline - with a host of Championship clubs remaining interested in his services.
