Norwich City have suffered another fitness blow after losing loan striker Hwang Ui-jo to a hamstring injury.
The South Korean limped out of Norwich's 3-2 defeat to Watford minutes after putting City two goals ahead - only for them to eventually end up defeated.
Hwang is now set to miss the rest of 2023 for City just as he was beginning to find form in yellow and green.
"He has a hamstring injury," Wagner confirmed. "We hope he can be back before the end of the year, but it will be tight.
"Obviously, he will miss Sunday's game. He made a scan. Hopefully, it will be before the end of the year, but we see over the next two to three weeks how he progresses.
"In recent weeks, he was in good form. He's been scoring goals and working really hard. He found more and more his position in the game and has settled in quite well. You know how we are; we try to deal with the situation of this injury and try to find solutions to it."
There is light at the end of the tunnel as far as injuries are concerned, however - with City set to welcome back injured trio Angus Gunn, Adam Forshaw and Jonathan Rowe to their side for Sunday's trip to Bristol City.
"Forshy (Adam Forshaw), Gunny (Angus Gunn) and Jonny Rowe are all back in training," he said. "We have had them back in training today and hopefully tomorrow as well. Then we have to make a decision on how we want to set up on Sunday.
"All three could be ready for Sunday if they train tomorrow without any issues. Jonny has been out for two and a half weeks with not a lot of training on the grass.
"They've worked hard in the gym, but it's always something different being on the grass with the team or working with the fitness guys on the pitch as well."
There was also good news on Josh Sargent - with the striker ahead of schedule and set for a return to action later this month.
"Josh is back on the grass this week," he said. "The next few weeks, leading up to Huddersfield, he'll be back in first-team training. Two or three weeks ahead of schedule. Lungi and Gibson back in a similar time, too."
