Internal changes haven’t been at the forefront of minds in the Norwich City playing squad but Christian Fassnacht is eager to see what changes incoming sporting director Ben Knapper implements.

The Canaries bid farewell to long-serving footballing figurehead Stuart Webber with a 3-2 victory over Cardiff in South Wales courtesy of a late comeback that halted a dismal run of Championship form.

It was a result that marked the end of an era – with question marks around head coach David Wagner’s future persisting with Knapper set to formally begin his role on Monday.

That change has dominated City discourse prior to the win after the clubs’ board of directors announced an acceleration of Knapper’s arrival following meetings earlier in the week. He will now get an international break to assess the situation.

Fassnacht is looking forward to meeting Knapper and is excited to see his vision for the next chapter at Carrow Road.

“We are not really (focused on it),” Fassnacht told the Pink Un. “We will see what he is going to change.

“I’m looking forward to meeting him. Then he will go on that point – we have one day off and then we can start again. At the moment, I’m just really happy we won today.”

Webber closed the book on a rollercoaster period with a victory – just as he started his tenure in April 2017 with a 7-1 drubbing of Reading.

The Welshman was seen on the pitch post-match embracing Wagner being sharing a moment with each member of City’s playing squad as they made their way off the pitch following the much-needed win.

Webber was then given a guard of honour by City’s matchday squad and backroom team before disappearing down the tunnel in South Wales.

Like all of the City squad, Webber played an instrumental part in bringing Fassnacht to the club and the 30-year-old will be forever grateful to the former Canaries chief for allowing him to fulfil a dream of playing in England.

“For the away fans, it was a really amazing game to come and watch,” the Swiss international said. “Then for Stuart, it was nice to have a last game with lots of ups and downs. It was an amazing day today.

“I think it was one of the main reasons to join the club. I had good conversations before I joined, so I didn’t have a lot to do with him, but I owe him a lot because he was the one that signed me. It was an amazing day.”
