Frank Lampard is being touted with Norwich City again should David Wagner be dismissed, despite the German having the support of the board ahead of this weekend's game at Cardiff.

Wagner finds himself under immense pressure at Carrow Road and incoming sporting director Ben Knapper has accelerated his arrival amid their poor Championship form.

TeamTalk are reporting that City's hierarchy have already drawn up a list of replacements and are ready to act if they fail to get a result in South Wales on Saturday.

It adds that Lampard would be open to a conversation with the Canaries should a vacancy become available.

It isn't the first time that Lampard has been linked with the role at Norwich, having held talks to succeed Daniel Farke in 2021 - before pulling out and Dean Smith eventually taking up the job as head coach.

Lampard has subsequently managed Everton and returned to Stamford Bridge at the end of last season on an interim basis, overseeing a run of one win in 11 matches in the Premier League.

Wagner will lead Norwich into Saturday's game against Cardiff and the club said in the statement confirming Knapper's accelerated arrival that 'it remains together in its commitment to supporting its players and staff through this challenging period.'

The support of the board is understood to be completely behind Wagner and the players approaching this weekend's game at Cardiff - with the focus on ensuring they return to winning ways.

Knapper will move into his role as sporting director on Monday, with Webber officially departing the post on Saturday after six years.
