Norwich City's supporters are well within their rights to vent their frustration towards the players and the club amid an inexcusable run of form.

That is according to captain Kenny McLean, who feels the levels of criticism being directed towards the playing squad is fair.

Norwich suffered their eighth defeat in 10 matches against Blackburn on Sunday - prompting a wave of anger from those in the stands to head coach David Wagner, sporting director Stuart Webber and the players on the pitch.

McLean has sympathised with City's supporters and urged the squad to show they can respond positively to the desperate run of form.

"Fans have every right to show their frustrations and anger," he said. "It is totally normal the way they are reacting. I would do the same. We need to take responsibility for what is going on.

"This run is not good enough. I've been here a long time now and I can't remember feeling so disappointed and frustrated in what is going on. We have to do more. We cannot go under or feel sorry for ourselves.

"We have to put things right. We need to get better - there's no other answer or solution."

McLean is one of the many senior players inside City's dressing room who are struggling for form amid difficult results.

Wagner blamed his senior core for making mistakes after their defeat to Sunderland - before throwing in young defender Jaden Warner for his Championship debut on Sunday.

The Scottish international is convinced that City's senior core needs to grasp control of the situation rather than relying on their inexperienced colleagues.

"We need to take more responsibility than the younger lads. We have been here in our careers at some point and had some lows - it how you react to it," McLean said after the 3-1 defeat to Blackburn.

"Right now, it isn't enough. We aren't reacting well. We need to get together this week and try to put things right, and nobody wants to hear me saying that - it's words. It means nothing. It's about what we do out there and right now, we're not doing enough."
