Stuart Webber will remain at Norwich City until Ben Knapper's arrival in November, contrary to reports on Sunday morning.
City’s sporting director handed in his resignation in March and is in the process of serving a 12-month notice period.
Norwich have announced Arsenal’s loans and development manager Knapper as his replacement and he is expected to begin his role on November 27.
The pair will then oversee a joint handover period to bed Knapper into the role. That is still the case despite reports of an accelerated departure amid Norwich's dismal run of Championship form under David Wagner.
Both parties may decide for a quicker departure once Knapper takes the reigns, but there is no plans for Webber to depart Norwich in advance of that process happening.
Webber is scheduled to climb Mount Everest in May 2024, and is unlikely to remain at Norwich beyond the end of the year.
This report comes following another Norwich defeat at Sunderland on Saturday - pressure is mounting on head coach Wagner.
Webber was among City's directors who travelled to the north east to watch their 3-1 defeat to Sunderland to extend a dismal run of form that seen the club suffer seven defeats in nine matches.
That has led to frustration growing around Wagner's position as head coach - with the German admitting in the wake of their defeat on Wearside that it would be down to others to decide his fate.
Wagner confirmed on Friday that Knapper was on holiday after departing Arsenal earlier this month. Norwich face Blackburn, Cardiff and QPR before his arrival at Carrow Road.
