Reaching Euro 2024 with Scotland would rank at the top of Angus Gunn's achievements in football.

The Norwich City goalkeeper is hoping the Tartan Army secure their spot in next summer's tournament during this October international break - they require just two more points to qualify from Group A.

Scotland travel to Seville on Thursday for a qualifier knowing they will qualify if they get a point in Spain or if Norway fail to beat Cyprus on the same night – or subsequently fail to beat the Spaniards on Sunday.

For Gunn, reaching the finals would be a career highlight and comes under a year after changing his allegiance from England to Scotland to support their Euros bid.

"We've put ourselves in a really strong position to win the group," Gunn said at his press conference. "From our point of view, why not?

“We are confident. It’s a great atmosphere in the squad. We have done unbelievably well so far and we are nearly there so it’s down to us to stay professional and go over to Spain and hopefully get the result we want.

“With what we have done so far, we have given ourselves the confidence that we can go there and get a result, and obviously the points we have on the board gives us less pressure to get a result, so we can play with more freedom and hopefully, like we have done at Hampden, go away and score a few goals as well.

"It would be at the top - it is everyone's dream to go to a major tournament with their country. Watching them as a kid you dream of growing up and being there. If we do it, it will be the biggest achievement that I've ever had in football."

Gunn has won the race to be Norwich's first-choice keeper and has taken the same role in Steve Clarke's international set up.

Angus is following in the footsteps of father Bryan - and an appearance against Spain on Thursday will see him surpass the City legend in terms of international caps.

“He was over in Norway as well, he was enjoying it with the Tartan Army,” Gunn said.

“I remember seeing him after the game and he was pretty… jolly.

“All my family are on a journey with me as well. Fingers crossed everything goes well, I think it will be a proud moment for them to hopefully come over to a major tournament and see me play.”
