Adding a goalscoring string to his bow is Dimi Giannoulis' next target after a productive start to the season at Norwich City.
The Greek international is yet to open his account since joining the Canaries from Greek side PAOK in 2021, despite his desire to join attacking situations.
Giannoulis thought he had finally opened his account when he latched onto Cody Drameh's headed pass back to John Ruddy. He nipped in ahead of the Blues keeper but his lob dropped just wide of the near post.
He is pushing to add goals to his game after watching Jack Stacey net the winner in a recent home game against Stoke.
“I thought that was the moment. Maybe it come in the next one. I feel the pressure now after Jack’s goal but I will score at some point.
"My last goal was against Benfica in a Champions League qualifier for PAOK (in 2020). A few years ago, I am not proud of this record,” Giannoulis joked.
“I need to score as well and when I score, hopefully it will come when we win the game.”
Giannoulis has taken steps forward this season in his individual performances, winning the race for that starting spot at left back in David Wagner's side.
His attacking intent has seen him flourish - and his quality was on show as he crossed for Gabriel Sara's opening goal.
Operating as a full back in Wagner's system requires deep fitness reserves but Giannoulis is content with his role in Norwich's side and believes it is getting the best out of him.
“This is what I do. It’s difficult but we have good players in midfield so we can keep the ball and that makes it easier for me to get up and down. I love it.
"I’m feeling good this season," Giannoulis said."I have no injuries so far and I hope that I continue in this way. I am an offensive left back and I’m really happy to give assists to my teammates.
"I saw some yellow shirts so I just crossed and thankfully he was there. To be honest, I didn’t expect him to score with his head."
