Andrew Omobamidele is close to securing a late move to Premier League side Nottingham Forest.
The two clubs are finalising an agreement that could rise to around £20m if the achievable adds-ons are activated during his time at the City Ground.
Omobamidele has been given permission to leave City's Rotherham base to head to Forest to complete the move. It's expected to go through without a hitch before the deadline - but may require a deal sheet to get it completed in time.
Norwich believe the move represents fair value for their asset - who joined the club from Leixlip United in 2018. Omobamidele has yet to make a league start this season with David Wagner preferring experienced duo Shane Duffy and Ben Gibson.
The deal will Norwich back into the market having done extensive work on defensive targets this summer.
It's understood that Derby centre back Erwin Cashin is not a target for the Canaries - who are also hoping to beat the clock to secure the loan signing of Ui-jo Hwang from Nottingham Forest before the window closes.
Norwich don't want to stand in Omobamidele's way, with the central defender expressing his desire to take the opportunity.
Forest have been locked in talks with the Canaries all day and their persistence looks to have paid off.
The Premier League side have been long-term admirers of the 20-year-old, having shown interest in him in previous windows.
