Shane Duffy believes Norwich City's dramatic Carabao Cup win over QPR is a testament to the high standards implemented by David Wagner.

The Canaries left it late to secure their place in the next round of the competition, with Jon Rowe netting a header in the 99th minute.

Despite the game seemingly drifting towards penalties, City managed to snatch a victory - something the towering Irish defender quickly attributed to their mentality.

He believes the squad have evolved to a place where winning can become a habit thanks to the framework put in place by Wagner throughout pre-season.

"The standards we set around the place - we want to win every game. It doesn't matter if it is a friendly, cup game, league or training game," Duffy said.

"If you can drive into the group that every match and training session matters, it brings a winning feeling to the squad and a confidence. It's very early to say, but it's all been driven by the manager. Games are 100 minutes these days and he has given us that belief to keep going.

"It's all about good habits, that is what we're trying to set around the place and it's been in our favour twice."

Norwich remain unbeaten since the start of the campaign, with cup progress the latest sign of promise after a disappointing end to last season.

Duffy was one of the players that City targeted to help them on their mission to alter the mentality of their group.

The Irishman is confident that Norwich have turned a corner and believes that they are a much-transformed outfit compared to last season.

"It's been really positive. There's been a lot of things said about the end of last season but it's a new season and a fresh start for a lot of people.

"Results have obviously helped. That helps everything build and then the fans get right behind you," he told the Pink Un

"With this team and everyone driven in the same way, that's when special things can happen.

"It's only just starting and we will only get better, which a lot of other teams are as well, but we are quietly confident in there that we have a strong team which is hard to play against and everyone who plays against us this year will have to earn a win. That's a very good habit to have."
