Norwich City Women 0 Ipswich Town 4
Norwich City Women fought hard but were ultimately beaten comprehensively by their higher-tier rivals Ipswich Town.
Tier three Ipswich dominated possession from the off at Carrow Road but found it difficult to break down City's low defensive block in the opening half.
The visitors' first notable opportunity arrived in the 15th minute when Leah Mitchell's shot cannoned off City's crossbar, before Sarah Quantrill denied Angela Addison's effort on the rebound.
Former Blues goalkeeper Quantrill then made another excellent stop a few moments later to deny Ipswich forward Angela Addison, whose strike from range was tipped around the post.
City held firm in the match for over an hour but as their energy levels dropped, Ipswich took advantage, with substitutes Summer Hughes and Natasha Thomas each finding the net within minutes of coming on.
Addison and Sophie Peskett then added further goals to confirm the visitors' victory, meaning that City will compete in the Women's National League Plate competition this season, rather than the Cup.
Norwich City: Quantrill (c), Medd-Gill, Flye, Strauss, Moore, Hailes, Morran, Kennard, Smith, Symonds, Snelling. Subs: Johnston, Powell, Densley, Shaw, Cook, Booty, Locker.
