Johannes Hoff Thorup previewed Norwich City's opening day Championship trip to Oxford United - and we had all the key lines from Colney.

Thorup provided the latest team and fitness updates from the camp when he spoke to the media on Thursday afternoon.

Jose Cordoba is unlikely to feature at Oxford after he sat out the final two pre-season games with a muscular issue.

Thorup indicated the Panamanian had taken part in some team training this week but is still in the process of getting up to speed after a late summer arrival.

Experienced forward, Ashley Barnes, underwent calf-related surgery over the summer and will miss the league start. Thorup indicated no other fresh fitness concerns.

Callum Doyle comes straight into contention following his season-long loan move from Manchester City, which was confirmed earlier this week.

City look poised to complete a deal for Ghanaian international midfielder, Amankwah Forson, in the next 24 hours. But the 21-year-old would face a race against time to be registered for the trip to Oxford if the deal goes through smoothly.

Thorup labelled that deal '50/50' on Thursday afternoon but Forson and his representatives have travelled to England to finalise the move.

Thorup was pressed for his reaction to Gabby Sara completing a move to Galatasaray. The Dane also gave his thoughts on Jon Rowe, who  is the latest Norwich player linked with a potential exit, after Leeds held exploratory talks over a move for the England Under-21 international.

While Josh Sargent and Marcelino Nunez, along with Adam Idah, are all expected to attract more interest between now and the August 30 transfer deadline.

Recap all the key lines from Thorup's maiden Colney Championship preview presser.
