Borja Sainz credited Norwich City's resolve after they came back from two goals behind for the second time in a matter of days to rescue a 3-3 draw against Middlesbrough.

The Canaries came from 3-1 behind to draw against Michael Carrick's promotion hopefuls, with a brace from the Spanish winger helping their cause in a day of high drama at Carrow Road.

That ensured Norwich extended their proud unbeaten record at Carrow Road to 24 matches in all competitions and have now avoided defeat on their own patch for over 12 months.

Sainz opened the scoring before Boro netted three of their own prior to half time. A super strike from the 23-year-old pushed momentum back in the Canaries' favour before Kellen Fisher's skewed cross forced Seny Dieng to turn into his own net.

The winger, who has become the first Championship player to hit double figures for goals this season, credited City's resolve following a breathless afternoon in NR1.

"Today is a good point because we lost the first half 3-1, but the team produced an amazing performance in the second half," Sainz reflected post-match.

"The support is amazing here. We played against a very good team, and it is a very good point.

"The team in the first minutes is good, but later the other team scored three goals more. The second half was an amazing performance, we had real belief.

"The team is good; we train and work with confidence every week. The confidence comes from the boss and the staff.

"He believes in me, and I believe in Johannes. He is a good boss. He gives confidence to me and the players. He is a very, very good coach."

Long has been subjected to some criticism from City supporters after a few high-profile errors since stepping in for the injured Angus Gunn, and Sainz is hopeful that spot-kick save can be a turning point for the experienced deputy.

"George is an amazing goalkeeper," City's winger said. "The penalty save is something to take confidence from and belief. He is an amazing person."
