Johannes Hoff Thorup hailed the role of the travelling support in Norwich City’s 2-2 Championship comeback at Preston.
Nearly 700 made the 360-mile round journey to Deepdale on Tuesday night but saw their side two goals down inside the opening 12 minutes.
Borja Sainz and Shane Duffy struck to earn a second consecutive away point in a matter of days, in a gruelling schedule for the Yellow Army.
“Let's say that had we lost this game, after the start that we made, that we should have changed the travel plan home and we go on the bus and the fans could take our plane,” said Thorup. “We could hear them, even though we were behind. But we could hear them. They were supporting the team.
"They were supporting us. And we've talked so much about this, it's always nice and easy to be a fan when you see your team win, but the fact is that the team needs support when they're losing. And we were losing, and we had the support, and I cannot underline too many times how fantastic it is for us, because we feel it.
"And we feel it every day, everywhere we go, and what we see and what we hear it's just fantastic. So that's why I just want to fast forward to Sunday.”
City round off a testing week with a Carrow Road return against Middlesbrough.
“It's exciting because the matches are so intensive, and so much about making sure that you play up to your standards every time,” he said. “That requires hard discipline defensively, and it requires hard discipline offensively, with a good structure, good movements, good passing game.
"So definitely, we still have to improve, and we still have to make sure that we don't make these silly mistakes like we did, especially the first half, but also a couple of times in the second half, where we have to be smarter.
"That’s how the league is, and it's exciting for us and exciting for you and everyone watching. But we are, of course, looking forward to Sunday and a nice place to play at home.
“Of course, we have to look at the point (at Preston) and say, ‘Okay, maybe it's fair enough, but, still, after that second goal we conceded I had the belief that we could come away with three points, especially after Borja’s goal.
“Even after conceding two goals we were dominant, and we had good positions, and we created some good opportunities. Then, of course, second half after the goal from Shane, I really thought, ‘Okay, now it's there for us to take it,’ but then it started to be a little bit too open in the last 20, 25 minutes.”
