Norwich City new boy Lucien Mahovo has loved the chance to learn from the Canaries' experienced professionals, as he maps out his own path to the first team.

The 19-year-old joined City from Notts County this summer, initially linking up with Alan Neilson's under-21s but impressing enough to train with the senior side.

Much like many of his development team-mates, Mahovo has his sights set on a permanent place in that group, having moved to Norfolk in search of football at the highest possible level.

"To make it into the first team, that's the main thing," he told the Pink Un. "Then if I get there then I'll look at what my goals will be from there.

"Norwich is a big club. Some of the best players are here, and I want to be around the best. I want to train with the best and I want to play with the best, so that's why I made the move."

For now, however, the left-back's focus is on taking steps to make his own game better. Two England youth internationals currently compete for his position in Johannes Hoff Thorup's setup, with Callum Doyle and Ben Chrisene both there for Mahovo to learn from.

He can already feel the benefits of those first-team lessons, and says the opportunity to do so was part of his decision to sign for Norwich.

"Just to never switch off," he continued, asked what he'd learned from the senior players he's worked with. "There's never a part of the game where you should be thinking elsewhere.

"You've always got to think about what your next job is. That's the main thing, because good players will capitalise on that.

"It challenges you every day, you learn something new every day, so it's great to be around players like that. Ultimately it helps you improve."
