Shane Duffy's praises Abu Kamara's Carrow Road response

Much has been made of the City's supporters' response to Kamara after a summer saga that saw him submit a formal transfer request before departing to Hull in a deal that could be worth £5m. 

Kamara was the subject of chants, barracked and booed on his return to Norfolk after wanting out of Carrow Road and ending an 11-year association earlier in the summer, having made just six senior appearances for City. 

Some felt Kamara's reception went too far, even though City boss Johannes Hoff Thorup didn't agree that it went beyond the pale after calling for the 21-year-old to be shown respect pre-match. 

The winger impressed once he got onto the pitch and even ended the afternoon clapping the home support, even if he was met with a mixed reaction from Canaries fans, who are still frustrated by his desire to depart after an impressive loan posting at Portsmouth last season. 

Duffy played alongside Kamara during his spell at Carrow Road and is an influential figure to the younger talent within City's dressing room. 

After the full-time whistle, the experienced Irishman went straight to Kamara to offer some words of advice, having received similar receptions at former clubs throughout his career.

I didn't want him to go personally because I thought he could have been valuable for us, but obviously, his head was all over the place, I think," Duffy told the Pink Un. 

"I understand that it's football and he's going to get a little bit. I've been back to clubs and got it as well. I said to him to keep going. That's the first one out of the way, and hopefully, it's done. 

"He's a really top player and a top guy. I wish him all the success. I think he handled it really well today and showed what he can do. I have a lot of respect for Abu and I hope he goes on to achieve big things."
