Johannes Hoff Thorup feels he is getting close to settling on his best Norwich City XI to deploy ‘Hoffball’.

City went toe-to-toe with Leeds in midweek to follow up a commanding Championship home win over Watford and an impressively resolute away victory at Derby.

The Dane wants to sign off in the same fashion against Hull City at Carrow Road this weekend, ahead of the next international break.

Thorup’s quick counter-attacking football and slick passing appears to have struck a chord with the City fan base.

“We have our strengths in the team, and we have to make sure it's a game where it's about our strengths as much as possible,” he said. “When we are in a good flow and a good rhythm, finding good positions, we can attack, and we can create good moments. That's our ambition, to do that as much as possible. But it will still take some time.

“It's fair to say that I think we're close to have a line up at the moment where I think that's the best performing players for us.

"Different teams create different situations in the game for us and I think what's important for us is that we have competition in every position, so we can change depending on where different spaces open up, and we need different characteristics and players for certain positions and so on.”

City have taken 10 points from the last 12 available ahead of the Tigers’ visit.

“We don't talk about results, because everyone who's in football knows it is about winning,” he said. “I cannot just say to the guys, 'Today, okay, what we have to do tomorrow is to win’. That's why it comes down to performance. You can lose a game, you can win a game in this league, it comes down to small margins. Sometimes we just have to do our job.

“We have to study, ‘Okay, how can we affect the game in the best possible way so it's in our favour?’ That’s why we talk about performance. At the end of the day we have to do whatever it takes to win.

"And if that's to defend with all it takes the last 10 minutes to slide in and block shots and do whatever, of course we have to do it, because that's also a part of a game. But we know that if we put in a performance then the likelihood of us getting a good result is better.”
