Johannes Hoff Thorup confirmed Anis Ben Slimane missed Norwich City's 1-0 Championship away defeat at Swansea City with a hamstring-related injury.

Amankwah Forson turned Jisung Eom's fourth minute cross past Angus Gunn to consign the Canaries to a league defeat in Wales.

Josh Sargent and Forson had first half chances to level before Borja Sainz spurned a series of late opportunities.

Deadline day signing Slimane was absent with a fitness issue Thorup indicated happened in the latter stages of the international period.

Slimane update

Apparently he felt something after the training Thursday, and was not in Friday during our session. But we hope it's something not too serious, and actually hope that he can be back on the pitch next week. So it was also just for us not to take too much risk with his situation. It's not a hamstring, but it is in that area.

We just have to be careful and make sure that we take the best decisions, and are not to only look one game ahead, but are looking at the bigger picture and see how we can make sure he can be available for as many games as possible here before the next international break.

(So he is not ruled out for the next game against Watford at this stage?) It doesn't seem like that. But again, my focus, with all due respect to the injured players, will always be on the players that can perform for us here now, so I will look at it on Sunday and then we see on Monday where we start.

Thorup spoke exclusively to the Pinkun on Saturday afternoon from the Swansea.com stadium.
