Norwich City new boy Callum Doyle says this weekend's meeting with Blackburn Rovers gives them the perfect opportunity to bounce back from a poor Championship start.

The 20-year-old made his debut for the Canaries in their opening day defeat to newly-promoted Oxford United, a result that brought home the size of the job on Johannes Hoff Thorup's hands.

In-form Blackburn travel to Carrow Road hoping to add to their two-game winning run, having claimed emphatic victories over Derby County and Stockport.

But Doyle believes that gives his side the chance to prove their mettle, having performed well below par at the Kassam.

"There have been a couple of days now looking over the (Oxford) game," he said. "I know and the lads know that that performance wasn't great. No one wanted to start like that.

"I think on the day everyone wasn't at their best. Now this game coming up against Blackburn is a chance for us to go out there and show our ability.

"I think we've got to focus on us, especially on the ball as well as off the ball. For us I think we need to create more chances, they're a good team, a good side.

"They've signed some different players, and I think they're a different team from what they were last year."

Part of Doyle's confidence comes from Tuesday's 4-3 Carabao Cup win over Stevenage, his first as a City player and Thorup's first as head coach. The Manchester City loanee played 34 minutes on the night, featuring at both left-back and centre-back.

He knows there's room to improve even on that victory, but feels the morale at Colney has been transformed by the result.

"It's good," he continued, speaking to the Pink Un. "It was good for the morale throughout the changing room, it was good for our confidence going into the game.

"Obviously we conceded three goals, but we easily could have avoided that. Like I said, we'll go into Saturday with confidence high."
