Johannes Hoff Thorup insisted Norwich City is back in business after stopping the Championship rot in a spirited 2-2 draw at West Brom.
City trailed, then led and were then pegged back again in a rollercoaster affair at the Hawthorns that ended a run of three straight defeats for the Dane’s depleted squad.
Angus Gunn, Liam Gibbs and Onel Hernandez all returned after injuries, while Kenny McLean is available for Plymouth’s Carrow Road visit on Tuesday after serving a four-match ban.
Fellow key midfielder Marcelino Nunez is also expected back in the mix for a home double header after his hamstring lay-off.
“I think we can just say it's been a storm. It's been hectic, and there's been a lot of situations for us to deal with,” said Thorup. “It's been tough, but the only thing we could do is sit down and solve these situations together, and deal with it in the best possible way.
"And that was also why I said after the games that we played recently the last thing we can do is to blame the players, because they did everything they could, even though it was not ideal for anyone coming back from eight weeks out injured and then playing three games in a week.
"It was not good enough, and it was not what we expected and wanted from those games. But now, finally, more players available, more players back. We can rotate a little bit more and we can do subs that will change the game picture.
"I said to the boys afterwards sometimes one point is a little bit more than just a point. And I think the performance showed that there was a step in the direction of a little bit of a restart.”
Thorup admitted there is hard work ahead with City conceding goals at an alarming rate.
“We should not concede as many as we do at the moment. That's definitely something we need to improve and something we need to work on,” he said. “But it's always good to have that feeling as a coach when I see the team out there I have the feeling that we can score throughout the 90 minutes.
"I'm pleased with the amount of chances we created, I'm pleased with the goals that we scored. I'm pleased that we also, at the end, tried to see if we could win the game.
“Even though it's a little bit open I prefer that instead of just sitting back for 90 minutes and hoping for the best. Our response to that first goal was really, really good. We got control over the game. I think the first goal we scored is a really, really good goal.
"But we have to be respectful; we play against a good team who were also dangerous and also creating chances.
“There’s different ways to approach a match like this, where we play with risk to see what we can do to create chances. Sometimes we open up a little bit, but that's the way we want to do it.”
