Norwich City travel to Sheffield Wednesday tonight seeking a reaction from Saturday's sickening defeat to Cardiff.

The injury-hit Canaries were leading in South Wales until the 89th minute, but a late double saw them ultimately fall to defeat. Picking themselves up and going again with another trip away from home will prove testing for Johannes Hoff Thorup's depleted side.

The Canaries will be without number nine Josh Sargent, who has been sidelined until 2025 with a groin injury that will require surgery. The American is facing eight weeks out of Championship action, leaving Ante Crnac as City's only fit and senior striking option.

That news was compounded by Gabe Forsyth also requiring a scan on a knee issue after being subjected to some rough treatment in the Welsh capital at the weekend. The teenager will miss tonight's game.

City's injury list has swollen to nine players out with first-choice goalkeeper Angus Gunn, starting midfield duo Marcelino Nunez and Anis Ben Slimane, and striker Sargent all injured with captain Kenny McLean serving the second of a three-game suspension.

Onel Hernandez, Ashley Barnes and Liam Gibbs remain out with their respective injuries.

Thorup and his coaching team will need to find answers to help City remain competitive before the November international break.

Sheffield Wednesday are also searching for a response after a 6-2 defeat to Watford at Hillsborough at the weekend. Danny Rohl's side currently sit 18th in the table having taken 15 points from their opening 13 matches.

The Owls are winless against Norwich in their last six meetings, but enjoy a strong midweek Championship record - they haven't lost a midweek home game since defeat to Swansea in 2021.

Norwich have won of their last seven midweek matches, with each of the last three ending as a draw.
