Trevor Whymark – who began his footballing career in Norfolk before going on to become an Ipswich Town legend has died. He was 74.

Born in the south Norfolk village of Burston, Whymark began his career in the Anglian Combination League with Diss Town and was signed by Bobby Robson in 1969, going on to make 335 appearances, scoring 104 goals for the Blues.

He left Portman Road in 1979 to join Derby and also played for Vancouver Whitecaps, Grimsby, Southend, Peterborough and Colchester United. After retiring from the professional game, he had a year as player-manager at Diss and in 1999/2000 became coach of Norwich City’s under-13s. He then returned to Ipswich taking on a similar role with their under-12s.

In April last year, Whymark's family announced he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.
