Norwich City striker Josh Sargent came through the USA's friendly meeting with Mexico unscathed, meaning a healthy return to Norfolk.

The 24-year-old started for the second time this international break, having also been trusted by Mauricio Pochettino in the weekend's 2-0 win over Panama.

He couldn't prevent a 2-0 loss to El Tricolor, however, as he struggled for involvement throughout a poor display from the visitors. That meant his substitution in the 63rd minute, after just 13 touches of the ball.

Goals from Fulham striker Raul Jimenez and UNAM's Cesar Huerta earned a comfortable win for Mexico, ending a mixed October break for the US.

Sargent will now join up with his club-mates for a quick turnaround, with the Canaries' trip to Stoke approaching fast. Head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup will be pleased to be reunited with a fit Sargent given his recent struggles with ankle injuries.

"It's been a long process dealing with [the injury]," admitted the City talisman at the start of the break. "There have been little things that have come from the original ankle injury, but at the moment I've had a good run of games.

"I'm playing 90 minutes pretty much every game now, and it feels like it's in a really good place."
