Confident Borja Sainz is hopeful something special is brewing at Norwich City after an uplift in individual and collective performance in the Championship.

The Spaniard is the leading goalscorer in the division and was crowned player of the month for September after a stunning hat-trick in the Canaries dramatic 3-2 victory over Derby.

Sainz has been an attacking catalyst alongside Josh Sargent and is oozing confidence in Thorup's system. The 23-year-old is hungry for more and is feeling the adoration from City's supporters.

"Right now, I'm having a very good moment. I don't know if it's the best, but the truth is that I feel good physically, with a lot of confidence in myself," he told Spanish outlet Marca.

"The most important thing is the confidence I have in myself. I feel it when I'm on the pitch. For me, that's everything because in the end, when you have confidence in yourself, I think things work out better for you, and you have to trust yourself more because I think that's the main part of a player.

"Last year, they made a song for me, and this year, I'm listening to it quite a lot. The fans are spectacular; they support me a lot, and we have to continue in that vein because there is a very difficult challenge ahead, which is to take Norwich to the Premier League.

"I think we can aspire to the play-offs, and then we'll see what happens... I think the team has to take it one game at a time."

Sainz's success in England has come after more turbulent spells in Spain and Turkey before his Carrow Road move in June 2023. Those experiences have helped shape the player he is becoming.

"I only have words of gratitude for Alaves and Zaragoza and also for the Turkish team (Giresunspor) who helped me go to England.

"I was very clear about it, and I don't regret it. I was going all out, and I knew it could be a very nice year for me, and since they called me from Turkey, I took the step because it was the key."
