Former Norwich City goalkeeper Jed Steer has extended his stay at Peterborough United by another two years.

The 31-year-old was due to leave the Posh when his contract expired at the end of last season, but he's put pen to paper on a deal that'll keep him at London Road until 2026.

Steer initially signed a short-term deal at Peterborough in January, having been released by Aston Villa in the summer of 2023.

He was signed until the end of the campaign following a series of impressive performances in blue and white, agreeing to another four months under Darren Ferguson.

That spell was set to end this summer, but Steer says he's delighted to have secured his long-term future in Cambridgeshire.

"It’s been an incredibly enjoyable six months for me here and I must thank the Club and the manager for bringing me in," he told official club channels.

"I am incredibly pleased I am able to return next season and finish the job we started in the last campaign. I’ve really got the itch again already; I can’t wait to get going and I’m buzzing to be here."

Ferguson added: "It was a really important target for us to re-sign Jed for the coming season. He has been impressive since he arrived back in January and offers our young squad leadership both on and off the pitch given his vast experience.

"With interest in him from other clubs playing at a higher level I think it’s a massive achievement for the Club that he has decided to stay with us and continue to work towards our targets for the coming campaign and beyond."

Steer came through the academy at Colney before making his first-team debut in an FA Cup fourth-round win over West Brom in January 2012.

He went on to make one more appearance for the Canaries, before following former manager Paul Lambert to Villa in 2013.
