So he we are - Norwich City’s last home game of the 2023-24 season.
And after winning 34 points in the first half of the season and looking out of the play-off picture, David Wagner and his team have amassed a magnificent 38 points in the second half and are within smelling distance now of a top-six finish - and with two games to go, of course.
I have to admit i was slightly disappointed with the 1-1 draw with Bristol City last weekend, but that point means Norwich are still three points in front of Hull, who played their game in hand in midweek, and nine in front of the team the Tigers beat, Mark Robins' Coventry City, who have three to play.
My disappointment soon disappeared when I realised that Norwich haven’t tasted defeat in the league at Carrow Road since Blackburn won there back on Guy Fawkes night, a defeat that meant three consecutive home losses for Wagner, for whom the pressure was on.
Since then Norwich have won 36 points from a possible 42 at home - that's a top class return and the main reason the club is sitting where it is today.
It’s been a tough season for Saturday's visitors Swansea. Russell Martin left last summer for Southampton, the Swans appointed Michael Duff and it's fair to say the Swansea fans never took to the straight-talking former Barnsley manager.
I think the straw that broke the camel’s back for the fans was when Duff came out before the South Wales derby back on September 16 and said he’d rather lose to Cardiff and win promotion.
Swansea lost 2-0, the first time they’d tasted defeat against the old enemy in five games - Ipswich fans would snap your hands off for that sort of record against Norwich!
Duff was relieved of his duties and after Alan Sheehan took the team for the next seven league games, three of which he won, they appointed Luke Williams, who'd done a great job at Notts County in the National League, as the new head coach .
Luke had also been part of Russell Martin’s coaching staff at Swansea so he knew the club and, more importantly for the Swansea supporters, he knows 'the Swansea way'!
It was a tough baptism of fire for Luke - the Swans won just four points from his first seven games and were hammered at The Vitality Stadium 5-0 in his second game. They were leaking goals for fun and, having sold Joel Piroe to Leeds last summer, were struggling to score as well. When you’ve problems in both penalty boxes you know you’re in trouble.
However, he’s slowly turning things around. Swansea, since that poor start under Williams, have now won six of their last 11 games, including their last three without conceding a goal.
I was at the John Smith’s Stadium last Saturday to witness their best win of the season, and their best win away from home since they beat Cardiff 4-0 over two years ago. The 4-0 win at Huddersfield was their first away win in five games and only their fourth in their last 16 away from the Swansea.com Stadium.
Luke Williams started his footballing career at Norwich, coming through the youth system, so I'm sure he'll be looking forward to coming back to the football club and he’ll be looking to throw a spanner into the works of Norwich’s play-off ambitions.
I’ll be making only my second visit to Carrow Road this season, having been down there back on February 17 when I witnessed a magnificent performance when Norwich beat Cardiff 4-1.
As I said at the beginning of this column, tomorrow is the last home game - but I do think there will be one more in mid May, so go and finish it off with a real bang and a great performance.
