Gabriel Sara made no attempt to hide his disappointment after Norwich City squandered a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 with Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.

Sara missed the best of a spate of chances to seal the three points in the second half, dragging wide before goals from Michael Ihiekwe and Michael Smith pegged the Canaries back.

Coventry's loss to Southampton meant Norwich actually extended their top-six cushion to five points, but the Brazilian admitted post-match that it was still tough to get over the disappointment of a wasted opportunity.

"It's really, really frustrating," he said. "How we started the game, how the game panned out for us, in the first half we were so much better. But in the second half we still had chances and we didn't kill it.

"I know in football you have to move on, the next game's on Saturday, an important game as well. But I think we have to think about our mistakes here, think about what we did wrong, and try to be better next time.

"We have to think about our game. You can see the good side, that we got one point, but we were winning 2-0, so it's kind of frustrating."

Owls boss Danny Rohl made four changes at half time to turn what had been a comfortable contest for the visitors into a much more physical one. Sara acknowledged the challenge this created, but felt they should have won regardless.

"The only way we could stop them would have been to kill the game," he continued. "When you make it 3-0 they get less excited and they probably give up, which would have been much easier for us.

"But we didn't kill it and they started feeling like they could draw, maybe win. We gave them the opportunity, and they were really ruthless against us.

"The Championship is like this. It doesn't matter if you're playing the bottom side or first in the league, it's always a tough game. We knew this game would be really tough, they're playing good football and trying to get out of the relegation zone.

"We had an opportunity, but there's not much to say. We're just frustrated about the result and thinking about the next one."
