Daniel Farke has been confirmed as the new head coach of Norwich City's Championship rivals Leeds United.

The German has signed a four-year deal at Elland Road and will be tasked with getting Leeds back to the Premier League after their relegation last term.

Farke departed his role as boss of German outfit Borussia Monchengladbach earlier this earlier after a 10th placed Bundesliga finish and has returned to management swiftly ahead of the new Championship season.

He spent over four years at Carrow Road - winning two Championship titles before he was dismissed in November 2021 after a poor start to the Premier League campaign, with Norwich replacing the German with Dean Smith.

A brief spell with Russian club Krasnodar followed but was ended prematurely after their invasion of Ukraine.

Farke returns to England alongside trusted backroom staff Eddie Riemer, Chris Domogalla and Christopher John.

His Carrow Road reunion will arrived when Leeds travel to Norfolk in October to face David Wagner's side. Norwich travel to Elland Road at the end of January.

Speaking to official club media after he was paraded as their new boss, Farke admitted he needed convincing to join Leeds.

“To take over this task at such a big, emotional club with so many expectations, it is key people are on the same page: owners, board, sporting department,” Farke told Leeds' official website.

“It is important to get a feeling for each other and that we agree on our visions of what has to be done to bring success.

“They had to convince me to take this role. No one had to convince me about the potential and size of the club. But what was important for me was that I was convinced by the people here.

“They had to have the same ideas and vision as me. Soon as I got this feeling, I thought this was an interesting project. I am grateful and humble all the key people shared more of the same views.”
